01 · BEFORE

Loved travelling but had few people to go with, and was craving an adventure.

Costa Rica. Zip lining across a canyon and island hopping at sunset.

More confident, genuinely accomplished, and sure she can do scary things and have fun doing them.

Who she is

Lauren is 28 and from Toronto, Canada. She joined our November 2025 Costa Rica trip.

Going in

She has always loved travelling and meeting new people, but she did not have many people to travel with and was craving an adventure. When she found us and saw the Costa Rica trip, she booked almost instantly.

She was not really nervous, just a little curious about how she would connect with the group once she landed in a new country. We took care of that early, answering all her emails beforehand and making it easy to sort her transport.

The trip

Zip lining across a canyon was the big one. The island hopping day was another favourite, out on the water watching the sunset, singing and laughing on the boat ride back, a perfect sign off to the trip.

What changed

Back home she feels more confident and genuinely accomplished. Solo travel was something she had always wanted to do, and she has now found a fun and safe way to do it. She learned how adaptable she can be in unfamiliar places, and that she can do scary things and have fun doing them.

Day one, already a squad

Fresh coconut, river views

Beach days

Pura vida nights out

What surprised her most was how instantly the group became friends.

“I was with the loveliest group of girls who were all so different, yet we got along so well.”

Conquering a fear of heights

She zip lined across a canyon and called it the most incredible feeling she had ever had.

“I conquered one of my biggest fears, fear of heights, and I did the zip lining! The other girls all hyped me up to do it and I’m so glad I did!”

HER ADVICE TO YOU

To the woman who has been watching and putting it off:

“Just do it already! Money can always return, you’re not gonna wanna do this kinda stuff when you’re retired, and it will most likely be one of the greatest experiences of your life. I promise that it is not as scary as it might seem.”
