her story at a glance

01 · BEFORE

Working far too much, feeling like she had lost herself, and no friends up for a bigger trip.

02 · THE TRIP

Japan, then Bali. A little boat trip in Kyoto and snorkelling with turtles off Gili T.

03 · AFTER

Far more confident in herself, and in travelling long distances on her own.

Who she is

Julia is 29 and from Sweden. She joined us in Japan in 2025 and again in Bali in 2026.

Going in

She booked Japan on a whim. She had been working far too much and had reached a point where she felt like she had lost herself, and none of her friends were up for a bigger trip. Japan had been on her bucket list for years, so she booked spontaneously. She ended up loving it and realised how much she had missed travelling, so when the Bali trip was released she booked it the minute it went live.

The trips

Her favourite memory from Japan was a little boat trip in Kyoto, cosy and relaxing, sitting in the sun with a drink and her new friends. In Bali it was the snorkelling trip off Gili T, swimming with turtles, seeing beautiful fish and enjoying quiet time together.

What struck her most was how many of the women were in the same life stage, and how open, friendly and supportive everyone was.

What changed

Back home she feels far more confident in herself and in travelling long distances on her own.

Her only nerves were about the other women, and whether they would become friends.

“All of that worry was gone about an hour in to meeting all the amazing women!”

It’s the people

In Japan her favourite moment was a little boat trip in Kyoto, sitting in the sun with a drink and her new friends. In Bali it was snorkelling off Gili T, swimming with turtles and enjoying quiet time together.

“Even though it’s so cheesy, I’ve learned that it’s the people you meet on the trips that makes the trip what it is!”

HER ADVICE TO YOU

To the woman who has been watching and putting it off:

“Just do it, you won’t regret it for a single second (although your wallet may feel differently since it will lead to more trips)! The experiences you get and the memories you’ll create will be with you for a lifetime!”
