her story at a glance

her story at a glance

01 · BEFORE

Tired of people promising to travel with her and never following through.

02 · THE TRIP

Japan, her first trip outside Europe. Kimonos, a family hot pot, the bamboo forest and her 24th birthday.

03 · AFTER

16 new countries since, some completely solo, and a whole new mindset.

Who she is

Becky is from Lincolnshire. Her first trip with us was Japan at 23, followed by Costa Rica at 24, South Korea at 25 and Bali at 25.

Going in

She booked as she was coming to the end of a part time degree and an apprenticeship. She had always dreamed of travelling, but studying made it hard to get away during the cheaper months. She was fed up with people saying they would travel with her and never following through, and she did not want to rely on one person as her only travel companion. She wanted to meet like minded women to travel with, so she booked.

It was her first time outside Europe and her first solo flight. She was nervous about layovers so booked direct, and is now comfortable with layovers and has found a travel style that works for her.

The trip

The group helped her celebrate her 24th birthday. They wore kimonos, cooked a family hot pot over card games, and saw monkeys and the bamboo forest.

What changed

What has changed since is remarkable. She now feels confident organising trips herself, and focuses on a happy and adventurous life rather than the corporate ladder.

If you are nervous, her tip is that you can always meet another FFS girlie before the trip, so you have a familiar face when you arrive.

“I worried there would be a clique but actually, everyone was so approachable with one another and so kind and friendly.”

16 new countries

She now feels confident organising trips herself, from flights to accommodation, and took a six month career break that shifted her whole mindset towards a happy and adventurous life rather than the corporate ladder.

“Since doing my first FFS trip, I’ve travelled to 16 new countries, some completely solo, some with other group tours, some with FFS and some with friends and family!”

HER ADVICE TO YOU

To the woman who has been watching and putting it off:

To the woman who has been watching and putting it off:

“Book the trip! If you go and realise it isn’t for you, at least you tried it and you gave it a good shot! But if you don’t book it, you may wonder ‘what if’ and you’ll always have that doubt.”
